SQUARE SHAPED KILNS

Why buy a square shaped kiln? It's simple geometry! For glass kilns and knife making or heat treating kilns, a square kiln shelf will fit more than a round one. Here's the math; A 10" square shelf will fit a 9.5" square and 9.5" circle. A 10" circular shelf can fit a 9.5" circle, but ONLY a 7" square. Those pesky corners really get in the way!

Front loaders are always square or rectangular, making them are easier to stack shelves inside. On some square kilns you have the choice or a drop down, oven-style door or a swing door if it is a front loader.On some square kilns they can be semi-top loading snd can be configured with a clamshell opening lid. It really is hip to be square!
