    What grit sanding belts do I need for knife making?

    Work through a progression: coarse 36 to 60 grit for profiling and heavy stock removal, 120 to 240 for shaping bevels, then finer 400 and up for finishing. Ceramic belts excel at aggressive removal, while finer belts refine the surface before polishing.

    Are 2x72 belts universal across grinders?

    Yes. Any 2x72 belt fits any 2x72 grinder, including AmeriBrade, KMG, Brodbeck, and similar machines, since the size is standardized. Just match the grit and abrasive type to your job. Always confirm your grinder's belt size before ordering.

    What is the difference between ceramic, zirconia, and aluminum oxide belts?

    Ceramic belts cut fastest and are self-sharpening, ideal for heavy steel stock removal. Zirconia is a tough mid-range option for general grinding. Aluminum oxide is the most affordable and suits lighter work and finishing. Choose by material and how aggressive the cut needs to be.

    When should I replace a grinder belt or disc?
