Jen-Ken took their traditional 3" Brick Kiln and added one super heavy gauge Mega coil to each full brick. The bigger the coil diameter and the more element material there is to heat the kiln then the longer the coils last. This 22" deep kiln has 4 oversized super heavy gauge Mega Coils that lead outside the kiln to color-coded wiring that go to a power block then to the power cord. The kiln plugs directly into the Orton AutoFire Digital 12 button controller. The stand-alone controller comes in a wall-mount enclosure which is designed to hang near the kiln and away from the kilns heat that could shorten the lifespan of its internal components. The controller has full cone firing settings with a choice of slow, medium, and fast firings, along with 9 user programs for custom firing schedules, and has the option for solid-state relays for the longest life.
This kiln is easy for the busy studio or artist that doesn't have time to wait for a repairman to change out a coil. If needed, you can easily change a coil in about 10 minutes on your own. And if there is ever a problem with the controller that can't be addressed on location, you can simply unplug your controller, box it up and mail it back to the Jen-Ken factory for servicing.
A traditional 3” brick kiln that is 22” deep with easy to change oversized heavy gauge Mega coils. Jen-Ken's Mega Coils extend the firing life of this kiln by 10 to 15 years longer than other similarly sized kilns on the market. This kiln has smart internal wiring with 8 color-coded element tails. These wire connections easily uncouple for stress-free change out when needed.
An Orton controller that has cone fire schedules, as well as being user programmable with a state of the art solid state relays come standard. You'll always see an accurate temperature display throughout the entire firing so that you always know where the kiln is in the firing schedule. Heat-work adjustments that are automatically calculated and final firing temperatures that are automatically determined by the controller are based on the actual kiln performance. This ensures the kiln firing will produce perfect results even as the kiln ages. Should you desire, it can even calculate the cost of every firing you do. This kiln does it all!
This kiln reaches a solid cone 10 firing when fired slowly and held at 2300F, saving you valuable element life! Jen-Ken's over 60 years of reliability and quality will serve you for many years with this solid kiln!!
This kiln is also available as 3-phase. Email or call us for special pricing on these options.
Why Upgrade from Mechanical Relays to Solid-State Relays?
Mechanical Relays, which come standard on most kilns have internal moving parts which over time wear out and need to be replaced. Kiln manufacturers recommend you replace your mechanical relays approximately every 2 years. Solid-state relays have no moving parts and last far longer than standard mechanical relays and offer far better temperature control during hold times. Since solid-state relays also have no moving parts to wear out, they NEVER need to be replaced. You will notice that solid-state relays are silent. The only sound you will hear is just the reassuring hum of the heating elements. So, this factory upgrade saves you potential down time from having to wait for new relays to arrive, potential over-fires from relays sticking in the closed position, potential aggravation from having to learn how to remove and replace the mechanical relays yourself. We think this upgrade is well worth the cost and will save you time and aggravation over the life of your kiln.
