The Janus24 digital kiln heats from the top, three sides, and door for unsurpassed heat distribution.

Select between glass and pottery with the flip of a switch. With the switch in the glass position, heat comes from the top elements and the middle sidewall element. With the switch in the pottery position, heat comes from only the sidewall elements.

In the glass mode, fuse and sag large glass projects placed on a single shelf. In the pottery mode, fire to cone 10. You can also fire several shelves of smaller glass pieces in pottery mode.

Advanced element grooves

The elements in the roof are mounted in a firebrick “ball” groove that eliminates element pins. The element coils are wider than the groove opening, so the elements stay in place without pins. The groove dissipates heat efficiently.

Wires are fastened to the elements with heat-dissipating connectors refined and proven over many years in Paragon kilns. Elements are coiled from the finest high-temperature wire available.

Optional mercury relay

If you need to anneal glass for extended periods in your Janus24, purchase the optional mercury relay upgrade. Mercury relays, which are found on our large industrial kilns, outlast mechanical relays. The life of the quiet, reliable mercury relay has been measured in millions of on/off cycles.

Heavy duty components

The insulating firebrick, wrapped in heavy-gauge steel, soak up the heat for slow, efficient cooling. A double heat shield and an air gap between the kiln and ventilated switch box help keep electrical components cool for long, trouble-free service. Costly heavy-gauge nickel-plated copper wiring is covered with high temperature glass-braided insulation. font>

The spring-pressure latch and a ½" recess around the edge of the firebrick door keep the door tightly closed. The door remains rock-steady on a heavy hinge shaft. Four hand lifts aid moving. The base is open in the back and slotted to dissipate heat.

Thermocouple with “special limit” wire

The thermocouple senses temperature inside the kiln. It is the small rod that extends into the side of the firing chamber. The Janus-24 comes with an exposed-tip thermocouple made with special-limit wire for superior accuracy. The new and improved thermocouple replaces our earlier sheathed thermocouple. The new thermocouple is made in America to our exacting standards.

Two peepholes

Watch the red-hot glass through two tapered peepholes, drilled one above the other in the wall opposite the switch box. Peephole plugs are included.

Door safety switch
The kiln includes a door safety switch that turns off the elements when the door is opened. The controller remains powered and automatically resumes firing when you close the door.

Great company

Kiln Frog was very helpful and stayed with me the whole time getting first kiln damaged by shippers returned and new one sent. The new came completely damage free and seems to work great. I haven’t put it through all its paces yet but so far so good!

Paragon Janus 24.

I’m not a beginner but am far from an expert as well. I wanted a kiln with a bigger shelf and the ability to fire multiple pieces on 2-3 shelves. The kiln is huge and heavy (400 plus pounds). ThankfullyI also bought the high cart. The manual is awful, but the kiln fires evenly and can be programmed precisely. I am learning to love it.

This is my second kiln, purchased for the increased depth and length than my previous kiln. I am just getting into using it but was pleasantly surprised that I can also fir pottery. So far I am very pleased with the kiln
