Steel Stand, Stackable Design
The Paragon Caldera digital high-fire kiln can fire rapidly to 2350°F/1287°C. and ships with a sturdy 2 3/4" high x 14" x 12 3/4" steel stand, complete with mar-proof rubber feet. With a separate top and bottom, the Caldera is stackable and completely portable.
Strong Lap Joints
To strengthen the firing chamber, the firebrick corners are fitted together with L-shaped notches. This type of joint lasts longer than the butted joint and the "picture frame" mitered joint found on competitive brands. The base is versatile and can be flipped if one side is damaged. The lid and base are interchangeable unless you order the lid with a glass window.
Reliable Construction
The Caldera switch box is coated with a durable high temperature, water-based finish. Elements are coiled from the finest high-temperature wire available. They use heat-dissipating element connectors refined and proven over many years in Paragon kilns. The thermocouple is protected with a high-nickel stainless steel sheath for long life.
Expansion Collars
The basic Caldera is part of a kiln expansion system...
- Caldera-BC Bead Annealing Collar - When you are ready to anneal glass beads, add the modular Caldera-BC Bead Annealing collar. The Caldera-BC collar has a 7 ½” x 2” door on the side for annealing glass beads. The Caldera-BC collar adds 4 ½” of height to the main kiln. The collar has no heating elements and, will fire to 2000°F/1093°C.
- Caldera-X Blank Collar - The Caldera-X collar is a kiln section that stacks onto the Caldera, adding 4 ½” of height. The Caldera-X has no heating elements and, will fire to 2000°F/1093°C. It is designed to add extra space for low-fire projects such as glass slumping.
-
Caldera-E Collar - This collar adds 6 3/4” of height to the kiln. The Caldera-E collar has a 7 ½” x 4” copper enameling door on the side. Now you can explore the exciting art of copper enameling without having to buy a front-loading enameling kiln. The kiln ships with a rare earth magnet to hold the enameling door open, and a stainless steel bead mandrel holder. The mandrel holder attaches to the front of the kiln. The Caldera-E collar has no heating elements. For this reason, the Caldera-E collar will slow down the firing rate and reduce the maximum temperature to 1500°F (815°C).
- Vitrigraph Bottom for a base with a 1 1/2" or 2" hole...
Warning for the Caldera Kiln Equipped with a Lid Safety Switch and Collar
The Paragon Caldera high-fire digital kiln was intended to be a stackable kiln with a separate lid and bottom. However, the lid must be hinged to the Caldera body when a lid safety switch is installed. To stabilize a Caldera kiln that has a hinged lid, we attach the kiln body and kiln bottom with two latches.
If an unlatched collar (enameling, bead, or extension) is mounted between the Caldera body and the kiln bottom, care must be taken when opening the hinged lid. Do not open the lid past 90 degrees (where the lid is straight up) unless the lid leans against a heat-proof support behind the kiln.
Please be aware when firing the Caldera with any collar in place, the maximum temperature is reduced. Enameling Collar – 1800°F; Bead Collar – 2000°F; Extension Collar – 2000°F
Optional Glass Window
You can order your Caldera with an optional glass window in the top/lid. The glass window is rated at 2300°F (1260°C), so it can easily withstand glass fusing temperatures. Please note, however, that the window reduces the kiln’s maximum temperature to approximately 2100°F (1148°C) and is meant for glass fusing. (You can still fire porcelain and stoneware jewelry even with the window, but you will need to plug the window with ceramic fiber.)

Great Service and Knowledgeable Staff
Kiln Frog delivered my kiln very fast, super service and really helpful staff. Will definitely be using them again for future purchases. Houston TX.

Great Service and kiln!
This is our first kiln and are very happy with it. At first it was daunting, with all the pieces, but the on-line videos and documentation on the controller are very helpful. The app for the controller is great too, here in Florida we can put it outside when using so got a rollable cart that lets us bring it in and out. There's also many extras available for it as we advance with using it. Very nice!

Love these Caldera's!
I have several, and I would hghly recommend them. Easy to use and trouble-free.

Caldera Vitragraph Kiln
Overall very positive. I mainly use it for vitragraph and it works well. Programmer is laborious to add longer programs.

Glass enthusiast
I haven’t used it much, only for testing but so far it’s great

Most versitile kiln
Small, fast heating, light weight, power to spare, inexpensive to run. Good for testing, small fusing projects, making jewelry, bead annealing and a great vitrograph kiln. Valuable supplement to my larger kiln.

So Happy with my Caldera 2nd one in 10 years
My second Caldera arrived and the control board malfunctioned. Over the phone the Paragon tech was able to diagnose it. She emailed a shipping label, I removed and returned the board, and I recieved a new board in the mail. I followed the instructions to reinstall it, turned it one, and it's been perfect ever since. I love my Caldera...I expect it will last longer than I do, since I am 71 years old!

Just what I needed!
In love with this little kiln. Bought the vitrigraph option as I want to add pulled glass pieces to mosaics I create. Stellar little unit. Bought the hot pink option and it's such a pretty color.
Truly one of the most versatile small kilns!
I have been using this handy, multiple-duty kiln pretty much nonstop since I got it. It’s small size makes it easily portable, and the extra high top temp allows me to fire my own low-fire pottery pieces. I am beyond pleased with this kiln.
Kiln
I haven’t taken it out of the box yet and used it but I have another Paragon kiln and love it. I received great service from Kilnfrog.
So Wonderful for Beginners!
The item is amazing. I have now done several fires and am learning how to better the skill. This digital kiln is extremely easy to use. I have never even touched a kiln or attempted ceramics before this and with a bit of self education, I have found a deep love for this art. Highly recommend this kiln!
I'm in love with my new kiln!
Gail was very helpful throughout the whole process. I had some shipping concerns, and she corresponded with Paragon to make sure all went smoothly. When the kiln arrived, it had a tiny hairline crack from its travels, and, again, Gail corresponded with Paragon to ensure that everything would be okay. Kiln Frog had the cheapest price for this kiln and excellent customer service, so I would definitely recommend buying a kiln through them. I've heard only good things about Kiln Frog from the online metal clay community, which is another reason I chose them. As for the Caldera, so far I have done two firings (nine small pieces) of Five Star bronze metal clay, and they both came out perfectly on the first try. I found the instructions for the digital controller to be very helpful, and the whole process was so much easier than I had expected. I did a lot of research and heard this is the best kiln for metal clay artists who want to work primarily with base metal clays, like bronze and copper (whereas most metal clay artists who work primarily in silver love the SC-2 kiln).
Paragon-Caldera Digital Kiln we perchesed from Kiln Frog
Once I mastered the Digital control every thing is going very well. I really like the window in the lid, it help take the guesswork out of our process.
