Ceram-a-Glass 18/15 is designed for the artist that has a passion for all the fired arts... fusing, slumping, clay work, bisqueware, mold making, casting, glazing and more! The big sister to the 15/13, this kiln allows you more growing room for the money.

What is unique about the Ceram-a-Glass series kiln is that it has BOTH Ceramic and Glass firing modes. The Glass mode gives the uniform top blast of heat to evenly heat the glass on the shelf with some of the side coils working to help bring the kiln to temperature. The Ceramic mode is all side firing that is great for the ceramics and glazes. The Ceramic mode will help glass casters hold at 1700°F without over heating the lid coils. This is important to you because, if you over heat the lid coils on a continuous basis, it could burn out your coils quickly and could possible cause damage to your lid. And, that is never a good thing.

The furniture kit might be important to have if.... you are planning to fire clay and glass. You'll want different shelves for glass and clay, plus you'll want tall posts to lift the shelf up higher when you are working with glass!

**IMPORTANT INFORMATION - All Ceram-a-Glass model kilns from Jen-Ken have the capability to be run to 2300° F. This setting must be unlocked at the factory and be requested by the customer at the time of order. PLEASE SPECIFY IF YOU'D LIKE THIS OPTION!  It's important to know that when running the kiln over 2100° F the lid elements are subject to faster wear and may not last as long. Element life is not guaranteed when the High Temperature Bypass Option is enabled.

Why Upgrade from Mechanical Relays to Solid-State Relays?

Mechanical Relays, which come standard on most kilns have internal moving parts which over time wear out and need to be replaced.  Kiln manufacturers recommend you replace your mechanical relays approximately every 2 years.  Solid-state relays have no moving parts and last far longer than standard mechanical relays and offer far better temperature control during hold times.  Since solid-state relays also have no moving parts to wear out, they NEVER need to be replaced.  You will notice that solid-state relays are silent.  The only sound you will hear is just the reassuring hum of the heating elements.  So, this factory upgrade saves you potential down time from having to wait for new relays to arrive, potential over-fires from relays sticking in the closed position, potential aggravation from having to learn how to remove and replace the mechanical relays yourself.  We think this upgrade is well worth the cost and will save you time and aggravation over the life of your kiln.

I have been having so much fun using my new kiln. I’ve only done glass so far but looking forward to trying clay in it. It’s been easy to use and adjust how I like things to come out of the kiln. Not disappointed at all!!! Love it!!

Jen Ken Kiln - AF Ceram-a-Glass 1815

A home renovation that is taking WAY longer than it should is keeping me from being able to set up my new kiln so I have been unable to use it yet. I will say that the kiln frog experience was certainly a five star rating. They made ordering a kiln simple and quick and fun! The kiln arrived in great condition and in less time than I expected. It won’t be long now before I can finally use my kiln and I’ll be happy to write another review at that time:)
