If you have been firing a smaller kiln, you will be amazed at the space inside the Ovation 1013. Fire several large projects such as bowls or platters in one load.
Lift the lid effortlessly
Dual spring-assisted lid supports transfert he weight of the lid to a massive hinge assembly on the back of the kiln. This reduces the stress on the kiln wall to give your kiln the long life that Paragon kilns are famous for.
Pinless element grooves
The Ovation 1013 lid elements use an element groove that eliminates element pins. The element coils are wider than the groove opening, so the elements stay in place without pins. The sidewall element coils are protected in dropped, recessed grooves.
Optional Mercury Relay
The Ovation-1013 has two mechanical relays for long life. (The relays turn on the heating elements after receiving a signal from the digital controller.) The two relays last longer than the single relay of competitive kilns because less amperage goes through each relay.
You can also order optional, industrial-grade mercury relays for your kiln. This type of relay is a must for long annealings and soaks because the mercury relay is not only quiet but also outlasts other relays by a wide margin.
Optional Solid State Relays
Optional solid-state relays that are mounted to aluminum heat sinks. SSR's last far longer than standard mechanical relays and offer better temperature control during holds. SSR's also have no moving parts to wear out. You will also notice is that SSR's are silent. The only sound you will hear just the reassuring hum of the heating elements.
Tall stands for easy loading
The Ovation-1013 comes with two massive, heavy 18” tall stands at no extra charge. They raise the kiln to a comfortable height for loading and operation. They include mar-proof plastic feet.
Sloped control panel
The Ovation-1013 comes with a sloped control panel for easy viewing and programming. The digital keypad is mounted high in the switch box. This, combined with the 18” stands, brings the controller to a comfortable height.
The control box is finished in a durable high temperature, water-base blue paint. We use water-base paint because of the low emissions during spraying. This not only cuts down on pollution but also creates a better working environment for our employees.
The Ovation-1013 comes with two large, tapered peepholes. They offer a wide view of the firing chamber with little heat loss. Or you can order the kiln with optional glass windows, which replace the peepholes.
The peepholes, both sides of the lid and top rim of sidewall firebrick are hardened and sealed with a special refractory coating to protect the ware from dust.
Kiln Comes with Two Heavy Duty Rolling Stands, 24” Square x 18” High
Two deluxe kiln stands with locking casters are included with the kiln. Enjoy the convenience of rolling the kiln out of the way when it is not in use. The 18” tall stands raise the kiln to a convenient height for loading and unloading. Should you need a vent, merely slide the collection cup of an Orton vent into a mounting bracket on the top of one of the stands.
The stands have solid tops to support the firebrick bottom of your kiln from edge to edge. They fit together with interlocking components that assemble with one size of bolt. (Stands ship unassembled.)
