This baby is a workhorse... the Jen-Ken AF3P 15/6 is a small kiln with big kiln features and large handles for easy moving! It has even heat distribution which is perfect for fusing, slumping, casting, and annealing. We use this one a lot in our studio and it fires all day, and sometimes, all night long, five to seven days a week. We love it and highly recommend them to our students. The 15/6 has an optional viewing window that allows you to see when you slump! Additionally, the 17 amp model gives faster 240 volt-like performance but requires a dedicated 120v, 20 amp circuit.

Why Upgrade from Mechanical Relays to Solid-State Relays?

Mechanical Relays, which come standard on most kilns have internal moving parts which over time wear out and need to be replaced.  Kiln manufacturers recommend you replace your mechanical relays approximately every 2 years.  Solid-state relays have no moving parts and last far longer than standard mechanical relays and offer far better temperature control during hold times.  Since solid-state relays also have no moving parts to wear out, they NEVER need to be replaced.  You will notice that solid-state relays are silent.  The only sound you will hear is just the reassuring hum of the heating elements.  So, this factory upgrade saves you potential down time from having to wait for new relays to arrive, potential over-fires from relays sticking in the closed position, potential aggravation from having to learn how to remove and replace the mechanical relays yourself.  We think this upgrade is well worth the cost and will save you time and aggravation over the life of your kiln.

Jen-Ken Kiln

Everyone I talked to at Kiln Frog was extremely helpful. I learned a lot from them. I've never used a kiln before and they helped me make an informed decision. I would definitely refer people and I would buy from them again. Thank You Kiln Frog. Sharon

Great Kiln!!

At first the Orton Controller looked a little intimidating but once I got started it became super easy. I hope to have many years of happy fusing.

Great Kiln!

I recently purchased a Jen-Ken Kiln - AF-3P 15/6 from Kiln Frog. Delivery time was slower than expected, but the kiln arrived in excellent condition. It is such a pleasure being able to control the firing process, and I have been very pleased with the pieces I have fused so far. I recommend Kiln Frog as your source for a new kiln!

Great kiln!

Great kiln! The stand that comes with it is a bit unstable and could use some cross bracing to withstand lateral loads.

I love the kiln however,

I love the kiln however, I resorted to You tube video tutorials to understand the programming. The instruction manual, in my opinion is poorly written. It is confusing and in some instances grammatically incorrect.
