Description

Available in a 10 oz. tube, Pyrolite E-Z FILL Adhesive is a high-temperature joint and repair product for use where direct molten metal contact is not required.

Some more handy info from the manufacturer of Pyrolite:

Surfaces to be bonded must be clean and free of loose particles, dust and release coating. Curing takes place through normal air drying. Low temperature heat (up to 200°F or 95°C) can be used to accelerate the process, if necessary. This can be accomplished using a hot air blower or low velocity flame.

The product should be stored between 40°F (4°C) and 90°F (32°C). Under these conditions, the normal shelf life is one year. In temperature and humidity controlled storage, a shelf life of two + years may be expected. It can be used in environments up to 2300°F or 1260°C.

*A handy note about Pyrolite! This product is used by many kiln owners to patch rigidized fiber shelves and cracks in fiber walls of kilns. Here's what to do: Smear on the product, use a squeegee or credit card to smooth it onto the surface, allow to become bone dry, and then lightly sand to the desired smoothness using finer and finer grits of sand paper. This product is an allowable substrate for kilnwash, so the kilnwash will not pool where the Pyrolite is applied.

I recommend this product

Great product for kiln repair

Pyrolite was a great assist in securing the pins into the firebrick when replacing my kiln’s element. I also used it to fill in any firebrick gouges and a hairline crack in the bottom of my kiln. I bought a small caulk gun and applied the pyrolite with a popsicle stick and glove covered fingers. I had previously patched a few spots using kiln cement, which I found more difficult to use than the pyrolite. Using the pyrolite I also did not have to worry about any getting on my elements and ruining them. I give this product/purchase four stars rather than five, as the price was ridiculous, but when there is only one place selling it, I guess they can charge whatever they wish.

Pyrolite EZ Fill Adhesive

This stuff really works. I had a catastrophic move with most of my furnishings and a Paragon SC2 kiln being demolished. The people at Kiln Frog were very helpful, I got a new kiln delivered in record time, and this product was able to repair the cracks and the door to my old one.
