Good Choice for Beginners
The Paragon FireFly Digital Kiln fires rapidly with a Sentinel TouchXpress Touchscreen Controller at the precise rate and temperature you choose. The controller stores up to 30 custom programs in memory. The display shows the kiln temperature throughout firing and cooling in your choice of °F or °C. Program up to 32 segments, or steps, per firing. Duplicate the firing schedule of your large kiln. If you know the natural cooling rate of your large kiln, you can even program that cooling rate in the FireFly Digital.
You will never outgrow a small kiln. If you later buy a larger one, continue to use the small one for testing or small projects. A small test kiln is invaluable in solving ceramic glaze problems.
L-Shaped Notches Strengthen the Firing Chamber
The Paragon FireFly Digital Kiln is made of durable 2 1/2" thick insulating firebrick, which stores heat for slow cooling and safe annealing of smaller glass projects. The solid 2 1/2" thick firebrick top and bottom help seal in the heat.
The hinged lid is self-adjusting to compensate for expansion at high temperatures. The hinge includes a stop that holds the lid open and out of the way. Lift the lid with a handle on the front or a separate handle on the side.
To strengthen the firing chamber, the firebrick corners are fitted together with L-shaped notches. This type of joint lasts longer than the butted joint and the "picture frame" mitered joint found on competitive brands.
Long-Lasting Elements and Thermocouple
Dropped, recessed grooves protect the replaceable heating elements for longer life. Wires are fastened to the elements with heat-dissipating connectors refined and proven for decades in Paragon kilns. Rugged construction makes this little kiln a workhorse.
This Paragon Digital FireFly Kiln is built to last. Elements are coiled from the finest high-temperature wire available. The thermocouple, which senses the firing chamber temperature, is protected with a high-nickel stainless steel sheath for long life.
Watch the Interior Through the Optional Glass Window
You can order the Paragon FireFly Digital Kiln with an optional glass window in the top. The glass window is rated to 2300°F (1260°C), so it can easily withstand glass-fusing temperatures. Please note, however, that the window reduces the kiln’s maximum temperature to approximately 2100°F (1148°C) and is meant for glass fusing. (You can still fire porcelain and stoneware even with the window, but you will need to plug the window with ceramic fiber.)
Built-in Stand, Long-Lasting Electrical Parts
A built-in 2 3/4" tall steel base with mar-proof rubber feet covers the entire firebrick bottom. Place the Firefly ceramics kiln directly onto a heat-resistant work surface. No extra stand is needed.
A stainless steel heat shield inside the switch box protects wiring from contact with the case. Costly nickel-plated copper wiring is covered with high temperature glass-braided insulation. Slots on the top, side, and bottom of the switch box circulate air for the long life of the electrical components. In addition, Paragon kilns go through a 15-step quality control inspection.
We love the little kiln. It is just what we wanted...easy to program, works like a charm.....
I enjoy using this kiln for firing metal clay. I did have some delivery problems (it was supposed to be signed for) but, the kiln was in excellent condition and it worked well.

Love the programmability, and ease of use. The only thing I would do differently if I could go back is to buy a front load style instead of the top load. Other than that I love it.
I had multiple issues with the delivery of my kiln through no fault of Kiln Frog, but they assisted me anyway. I tried to deal with Paragon directly, but over and over again hit a brick wall. Kiln Frog would step in and help get the issues resolved. They responded quickly and followed up to make sure Paragon did what they were required to do. I will definitely buy from Kiln Frog again (not so sure about Paragon though - their customer service stinks). Thanks Kiln Frog!!
