Shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, Canada & Internationally

The free shipping offered by Kiln Frog is great for those of you who live in the contiguous United States, you know... the 48 adjoining states plus Washington, D.C, but what about Alaska, Hawaii, and, our neighbor to the north, Canada? No problem... we've got you covered!

If you live in Alaska, Hawaii, or Canada, we are happy to ship to a freight forwarder in the continental US for free, then you pay the freight from there. This saves you money and also lets you take advantage of the free shipping benefits on our site. So, all you pay is from the freight forwarder to you and, we promise, that's a really big savings!

Okay, so what's a freight forwarder?

The business dictionary online defines it as.... "Firm specializing in arranging storage and shipping of merchandise on behalf of its shippers. It usually provides a full range of services including: tracking inland transportation, preparation of shipping and export documents, warehousing, booking cargo space, negotiating freight charges, freight consolidation, cargo insurance, and filing of insurance claims. Freight forwarders usually ship under their own bills of lading or air waybills (called house bill of lading or house air waybill) and their agents or associates at the destination (overseas freight forwarders) provide document delivery, deconsolidation, and freight collection services."

So who should I call?

Alaska & Hawaii: We'll ship to the terminal specified for your shipper. Most Alaska shipments will go to the marine terminals in Seattle or Fife (Tacoma) Washington. Shipments to Hawaii typically leave from Los Angeles or Oakland, California, and Washington or Oregon.

For Alaska and Hawaii, we've worked with the following companies and had great results:

Canada: For shipping to Canada we'll include the invoice with the shipment and make sure the customs forms are included too. Remember, in addition to the shipping, you'll need to pay your duties/taxes too. The easiest ways to get this accomplished is by using Gateway Custom Brokers. They have the capability of clearing shipments from Halifax to Victoria.

For Canada, we've worked with the following companies and had great results:

Freight Forwarders will need: The weight of the item and the dimensions of the package. For 240V kilns, check the shipping weight on our website on the kiln you want and then give the freight forwarder the dimensions of 36" x 40" x 36" that will give you a close idea of your freight costs. For 120V kilns, do the same weight check, and use the dimensions of 24"x26"x30".

Now that you have your quote you are ready to buy your kiln. Please note on the purchase where to ship the kiln and, of course, you can send us an email if you have questions! Please let us know if you have a quote number from your freight forwarder and we'll place that on the shipping information. It will make it easier for them to get the package to you.

IMPORTANT TO KNOW: If you are ordering a larger kiln, there will be CRATING FEES for all larger OLYMPIC kilns going to Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and South America, Mexico, Off Shore Islands, Etc. As of 11/15/2021 that fee is $200. Other manufacturers may also impose a fee based on the size of the kiln, the route, and the destination. These fees will be handled on a case by case basis. KilnFrog, LLC will inform you if/when the manufacturer informs us of any additional charges.

How do you handle freight shipped internationally?

KilnFrog ships directly to customers in the United States and Canada only.
We will ship outside of the US and Canada through a freight forwarder only. If your freight forwarder is located in the US 48 contiguous states, your shipping will be free (if it is a free freight item.) Border fees, customs, and taxes are the responsibility of the buyer cannot be paid through KilnFrog, LLC. Customers will need to secure and pay their own freight forwarder. KilnFrog, LLC. cannot provide a freight forwarder for you.
KilnFrog, LLC can only insure any damages, repairs, or replacement of kilns, shelves, or accessories from the point of pick up at the manufacturer's dock to the first delivery point at the freight forwarder.
Once a kiln has been delivered, accepted, inspected, and signed for at the freight forwarder, the kiln/item will longer be covered under the original shipper's insurance coverage. The signature of acceptance at the freight forwarder signifies full acceptance of the shipment. Acceptance of the delivery at the freight forwarder requires visual inspection of the delivery. Failure to do so at the freight forwarder does not negate their responsibility.
The freight forwarder must then insure and cover any and all claims from their location to the final destination. KilnFrog, LLC and the equipment manufacturer will accept no responsibility for damages unreported past the point of the freight forwarder's acceptance of the merchandise.
