Go VERTICAL like the Pros... Introducing the Revolutionary Vertical Air Bath Heat Treating Oven!

***NEW*** ALL controller choices are pre-programmed with schedules for 1084, 1095, 5210, 5160, & 440C!

The Vertical Air Bath delivers unparalleled heat distribution as blades are suspended vertically inside the chamber delivering 360°of uniform heat!  This unique top-loading design with upright blade suspension helps reduce internal stress and prevents warps.

The Excalibur is a custom Vertical Airbath 21 with the ability to heat treat blades in the shorter version and swords when the removable Excalibur section is clamped in. This add-in element heating section will extend the height to make the oven 50 inches deep. The workspace needed to use this oven with the add-Excalibur section will require tall ceilings, a tall vertical quench tank and a platform for the bladesmith to stand on to retrieve the blades to transfer them to their quench medium of choice. **Platform and quench tank not included.**

The refractory brick chamber of the Vertical Air Bath is heated from above and below the specially designed baffle with coils in both the body and lid allowing it to heat to 1500F in about 60 minutes! This dual heating combination is also ideal as it provides quicker interior heat recovery. As you open the lid, the standard power-interrupt switch automatically de-energizes the coils allowing you to safely reach in to remove your blades. Plus, the configurable baffle design and large chamber allow blades of all shapes and sizes to process together!

Vertical Air Bath Features

Suspension Spring Holders and Pin Hangers - Blades in the Vertical Air Bath can be suspended several ways.... either a pin through the tang, a spring clasped to the tang, or you can simply turn the tang sideways between the movable ceramic rods. Foil wrapped blades can also be suspended by passing the support pin through the foil sheet or via the spring clasp method. This versatility allows the vertical suspension format to be used with almost every heat treating technique.

Lid Lift Handle - One of our favorite features of the Vertical Air Bath is the reversible, cool touch handle. When standing to the side of the oven, the lid of the Vertical Air Bath can be easily lifted without a blast of heat. The blade can then be removed quickly allowing for minimal heat loss and ease of use.

Why Upgrade from Mechanical Relays to Solid-State Relays?

Mechanical Relays, which come standard on most kilns have internal moving parts which over time wear out and need to be replaced.  Kiln manufacturers recommend you replace your mechanical relays approximately every 2 years.  Solid-state relays have no moving parts and last far longer than standard mechanical relays and offer far better temperature control during hold times.  Since solid-state relays also have no moving parts to wear out, they NEVER need to be replaced.  You will notice that solid-state relays are silent.  The only sound you will hear is just the reassuring hum of the heating elements.  So, this factory upgrade saves you potential down time from having to wait for new relays to arrive, potential over-fires from relays sticking in the closed position, potential aggravation from having to learn how to remove and replace the mechanical relays yourself.  We think this upgrade is well worth the cost and will save you time and aggravation over the life of your kiln.
