The Jen-Ken ProFusion Fiber 15 "Bonnie Glo" Tilt Kiln is made from hard-rigidized fiber so most of the heat is absorbed by the glass and not the kiln which makes heating up and cooling down really fast. This allows you to be very productive and do a more firings in a day. Also, with the benefits of fiber, you wont' need a shelf... you can use fiber paper, 1/8" fiber blanket, or lava cloth on the bottom. We use it for fusing glass jewelry, small slumping projects as it can hold a 14" plate mold or an 11" square mold, firing Metal Clay and occasionally annealing beads. (You'll need a shelf for this.) It heats up lightning fast, allowing for fast Metal Clay ins and outs.

It is important to know that if you are a multi-media artist, that you can not fuse Metal Clay and glass on the same surface as glass will absorb the metal oxide reside left by the metal clay. This residue will discolor your glass making you very unhappy. The easiest solution to this issue, is to use a different shelf for each.

In addition, if you are doing small casting or pattern bars, we recommend the ceramic shelf kit as it will give you the added insulation you need for slow cooling. Since there is no top element and is side fire only, simply elevate the shelf above the element and add a 1” fiber blanket for easy bead annealing. Always remember, before putting anything metal into a firing kiln, turn it off first!

Want to protect the bottom firing surface of your kiln? Now you can order a 13" round, rigidized-hard fiber shelf. This 1" thick shelf will give you even better insulation for firings and protect your kiln bottom from knicks and scrapes, giving you the smoothest surface for your work.

Why Upgrade from Mechanical Relays to Solid-State Relays?

Mechanical Relays, which come standard on most kilns have internal moving parts which over time wear out and need to be replaced.  Kiln manufacturers recommend you replace your mechanical relays approximately every 2 years.  Solid-state relays have no moving parts and last far longer than standard mechanical relays and offer far better temperature control during hold times.  Since solid-state relays also have no moving parts to wear out, they NEVER need to be replaced.  You will notice that solid-state relays are silent.  The only sound you will hear is just the reassuring hum of the heating elements.  So, this factory upgrade saves you potential down time from having to wait for new relays to arrive, potential over-fires from relays sticking in the closed position, potential aggravation from having to learn how to remove and replace the mechanical relays yourself.  We think this upgrade is well worth the cost and will save you time and aggravation over the life of your kiln.

Profusion 15 tilt kiln

I love this kiln, I am new to glass work. I already wish the kiln was bigger but I bought this size as it works well with my condos existing power.

I love my jen Ken bonnie glow

This is my first kiln. It was recommended to me by my glass fusion teacher. It doesn't disappoint. I haven't had any problems with it and I am constantly amazed how well everything turns out. I highly recommend it!
